Maturity
"A man's maturity consists in having found again the seriousness one had as a child, at play"
Friedrich W. Nietzsche - German philosopher (1844 - 1900)
A wide variety of challenges can be faced during the life cycle of semiconductor products. The IC silicon process can become obsolete, the design team who designs the IC can no longer be available, the system hosting the IC could require some improvements, the volume production of the IC can steeply increase and other more.
Managing the product at its maturity requires methodology and skills. We can sew back and trace the whole structure and functioning of a product, starting from “what there is available ”. It is possible then, through the GDSII only, to reconstruct completely the design database, the design system and specifications, the test methodology and the whole know-how which were available at the time the product was launched into the market.
